As a self taught “professional” chef and holistic nutritionist, my goal is to offer hand-on learning experiences that are easily replicated in the home kitchen. No fancy gadgets, special knives or chefs hats required! My approach to cooking is experimental, having fun and sometimes following recipes but always using fresh, wholesome, real food as our source of ingredients. Also very important is taste and the ability to adapt recipes to satisfy dietary preferences such as paleo, keto, whole30, vegan, gluten free, dairy free and many others.

In a private lesson, you will receive tips on prepping, chopping, cooking and storing food. We will prepare and enjoy a wholesome meal based on what you need most help with.
The lesson may include:
-2 3 hours of guided hands on instruction for prep and cooking
-recipes custom designed for your tastes, likes, skills and dietary needs
-basic knife skills (chopping, dicing, holding knife safely)
-introduction to healthy cooking techniques that maintain optimum nutrition in food
-healthy kitchen pantry staples and nutrition tips
Lessons can be in your kitchen or mine

What is a registered holistic nutritionist?
Holistic Nutrition is a natural approach to health that uses evidence based techniques for diet, lifestyle and detoxification. A Holistic Nutritionists evaluates each individuals complete health history, emotional state, lifestyle habits and current diet to determine the root cause of his or her health concern. Its not a one size fits all approach, sessions are never rushed and the client takes an active role in balancing health. Some of the issues that holistic nutritionists could help with are:
-dietary changes/food allergies
-disease prevention (i.e. cancer/ osteoporosis/ arthritis)
-low energy/ fatigue
The ultimate goal is to empower and educate the client on how to improve his/ her health through the use of nutrient dense foods, natural supplementation and lifestyle recommendations.
Does insurance cover your nutrition services?
It depends on which company you use, however this is constantly changing-more and more companies are starting to provide coverage for Holistic Nutrition Services. If your benefits plan is under Greenshield or Manulife, it should be covered, however, its usually classified under “Nutritional Counselling/Social Work/Counselling”. If your benefits are provided by Sunlife, Great West Life or Pacific Blue Cross, there is a chance that you will be covered, however, you should call to confirm. The more times that you and others request that Holistic Nutrition Services are covered, the more likely this will keep expanding to be covered fully under all plans!
